It was very exciting to have real, sincere conversations with them. I am encouraged by the younger generation there and their desire for spiritual truth it would seem.

Over the next couple of days we probably had hundreds of conversations, including plenty of rejections, but having a fruitful first day helped keep me encouraged throughout the remainder of the trip.

The young man showed interest in everything I was saying. He came as a guest to our Saturday meeting and stayed the entire day, evangelizing, interpreting, and learning God’s great truth in bible study…

One of our prayers as a group was to have a meeting with other believers in the city but we had nowhere to meet. We had great faith that God would provide a place just like the upper room, and He did just that and he sent two people there as well.

I could tell that a lot of the people we spoke to seemed to long for a sense of connection, which made it easy to strike up conversations.

Not only did Christ change my perspective on the city of Portland concerning opportunities of grace but he encouraged me in my personal evangelism in Georgia.

If I had to sum up that sentence in two words it would be - total obedience… every time I feel a nudge from The Holy Spirit telling me to talk to someone or pray for someone or do something that makes me uncomfortable…

All of these things the Lord worked together to give me peace of mind and confidence to speak, regardless of reception.

In August of this year I was given the opportunity to be part of a team sharing the gospel in Portland. I’d like to share a brief story and something God spoke to me about while on the trip.

Although many aspects of the area were different than I expected, I quickly felt confirmation that, if our church would pursue planting a church in the northwest, I should be a part of it.
