Leave It All On The Field

Portland is such a unique and cool place. The amazing food, neat shops, and sweet people made our trip so so good, but what was even more special is what God did in my heart while we were there :)

I’ll begin by explaining a little of what we did during the trip- For the first 2-3 days the goal was evangelism. Basically approaching people on the street and starting up a spiritual conversation so that we can share the gospel of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). We spoke to so many open minded and kind people during this time and 2 people made Jesus The Lord of their life (Romans 10:9). Praise The Lord!!

Everyday that we evangelized (sometimes even multiple times in a day) Thomas would say something along the lines of “leave it all on the field”. He would say this regarding our evangelism time to encourage us to talk to as many people as we could and do what we came there to do. Throughout the trip and even as we’ve been home, that phrase has stuck with me. It has been motivational and also convicting for me. If I had to sum up that sentence in two words it would be- total obedience… everytime I feel a nudge from The Holy Spirit telling me to talk to someone or pray for someone or do something that makes me uncomfortable, but it is for God’s glory- do it! That is how I can “leave it all on the field”.

While I was in Portland, that was my “field”, but now that I’m home (in Georgia), this is my “field”. The mission is still the same. I want to be committed to total obedience everyday, wherever I’m at. I have to admit that I don’t always do this. It’s so easy to talk yourself out of it. When I see that cashier and The Holy Spirit is nudging me to in some way bring up Jesus, without even trying I can think of a million reasons why I shouldn’t. But I came home from Portland with a renewed motivation to “leave it all on the field”, to push past the excuses and obey.

When I stand before The Lord one day, I desperately want to hear “well done”. Matthew 25:21”His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” In order to hear this, I actually have to *do well* and that includes total obedience.

I’m thankful for what God taught me while we were in Portland and for what He is continuing to do in that city. Excited to continue to watch His plan for Project Portland unfold!!
