Gen Z Is Open to Truth

God had been doing a work in me several months before the trip to Portland in regard to evangelism. I had a yearning to go out in my community to tell strangers and friends alike who Jesus was, to see people get saved.

I have been saved since a child and have wanted to evangelize, to be a missionary but have always felt so lost in how to do it. In the past many years I have done things to try and connect with my little town better and build relationships, but it has seemed to be such a slow process.

Since August, I felt an urgency to just get out there and do it. To quit having an 8 year plan on how to warm people up and beat around the bush. There was no more time to waste. People need to hear the simple truth of the Gospel and have the opportunity right now to be reconciled with God.

When I heard about the Portland trip and the opportunity to evangelize, I needed to go. I must needs go like the Bible so often says. Since September some sisters in Christ and myself had been going into our community to share the gospel with strangers. It was our duty and our act of worship that we were happy to give.

When we got to Portland, there were obvious things that were different not only geographically but culturally as well as the fact that our community is very small in comparison.

One thing that surprised me was just how open the younger people were to a conversation. I’m going to sound like an old lady when I say this, but they were very respectful and several were full of well, thought out genuine questions. It was very exciting to have real, sincere conversations with them. I am encouraged by the younger generation there and their desire for spiritual truth it would seem.

I am thankful that God gives us opportunities, as far as me specifically, to obey Him and to grow. Since the trip I feel that God has been sanctifying me and molding me more into His image, which is scary and painful. A lot of things have been shaken in me during and since this trip. God is always so faithful and kind to speak truth to us constantly. In my daily reading yesterday He reminded me of these verses:

Romans 12:11-12
Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

For me, for all of us who call ourselves Christ followers, our focus should be on serving the

Lord. Not acting scared, making excuses or being lazy but to be busy doing our Father’s work

just as Jesus said. He will always work out the rest.
